Sir, I am very upset. I sold you an item, shipped it immediatly after payment in good faith and now you have filed a complaint and eBay has taken the money from my account. I have no control over the mail, so now I am out the insignia and the money. You will receive the item when the mail delivers it, will you be honest enough to repay me when it arrives or send the item back? J
J,
I really don't get it. You insist on shipping the items priority mail, which incurs an additional $10.95 for the buyer on every batch of beercans won on a Sunday. Your rationale for this cost is that it protects you.
I am quoting you:
"I have to ship prioity mail otherwise there is no number to prove I have shipped. If it is sent first class, no number, so if the mail is slow the buyer disputes, ebay takes the money from my account and the buyer ends up with what he bought for free,so I lose the item and the money, this has happened to me many times, and the guys that beg me to ship so they can save money are the first to do this."
As you have noticed, I never attempted to negociate a lower shipping cost for the many, many items I bought from you. I always accepted this cost, because I thought the extra protection was worth it.
In the present case, the item has not arrived after 5 weeks, and is most likely lost. I had 5 days left to get my money back from ebay, which I just did. One week from now I wouldn't have had any options left.
Normally, since you have proof of shipment, Paypal should not have taken the funds from you. They should have taken the loss. Perhaps there is some fineprint I missed, excluding you from coverage.
Even if this is the case, since Priority Mail includes insurance, you can get a compensation from the USPS, which failed to deliver the item. I suggest you initiate action with your local post office, which is what postal insurance is all about, right?
Just so you know, I have lost over $3000 worth of packages after 11 years on ebay. I can tell you that yes, packages and letters get lost. When I asked sellers to send 1st class mail, I always took the loss. I had taken the risk, and it was entirely my fault.
As matter of fact, this is the very first time an insured item gets lost. Since it was insured, the USPS will compensate you, so what is the big deal exactly? If the item finally arrives, I will of course resend payment.
O
